The thump cannon is a mechanoid-only weapon equipped on termites with a low base damage rating but with exceptional damage multipliers against buildings.

This weapon cannot be independently obtained in normal play. It is provided here for comparisons sake.

Acquisition[edit]

Thump cannons spawn on all termites. However, it is not possible to obtain it directly in normal play. Pawns carrying it will not drop it on death, downing, or complete loss of manipulation like other weapons. It can be spawned in by the Debug actions menu but, like all unobtainable weapons, will disappear after being dropped.

Summary[edit]

Thump cannons do Thump damage which has a 15x damage multiplier to impassable buildings, 7.5x multiplier to passable buildings, a 4x multiplier against plants. Furthermore, walls and natural rock walls have a further 2x multiplier when taking Thump damage resulting in a 30x multiplier. Thus, for base damage before quality modifiers, the thump cannon deals:

For the purposes of armor calculation, thump cannons are considered Sharp damage.

Analysis[edit]

Due to Thump damage's multipliers, thump cannon are only moderately damaging to living targets but do massive damage to buildings and walls. A single shot can destroy 3-tile wide stretch of wood wall, and three can breach any wall short of plasteel. The thump cannon can down unarmored pawns in five hits on average, and most often kill from brain damage.
