A smashed stump is what remains after a tree has been destroyed by damage. It blocks planting a new tree until it's removed. For the necessary 90 ticks (1.5 secs) of work it yields only comparably few 4 Wood. Also it provides only relatively low 20% cover. Harvesting smashed stumps for wood does not cause a mood debuff for pawns with the tree cutting: prohibited precept.

Despite not growing, it has growdays and lifespanDaysPerGrowDays values set. It is unclear what effect, if any, this has.
