A chopped stump is what remains after a tree has been chopped down by a pawn. It blocks planting a new tree until it's removed, either by manually cutting it or waiting for it to naturally decay, an automatic process with a variable time of around 2-5 days.[Anything more/less than 2-5?] For the necessary 90 ticks (1.5 secs) of work it yields only a comparably few 4 Wood. Also it provides only relatively low 20% cover.

Cutting them does not give a mood penalty to those with a precept against cutting trees.Content added by the Ideology DLC

Despite not growing, it has growdays and lifespanDaysPerGrowDays values set. It is unclear what effect, if any, this has.
