The machining table must be researched before it becomes available. Colonists with the crafting job enabled will work bills at a machining table. It has two bills:

Its first function is essentially a butcher's table for mechanoids. Set a bill at the table and colonists will bring mechanoid corpses here to be converted into usable materials. This will produce some steel and plasteel.

Its second function will produce artillery shells out of steel that can be fired from a mortar, incendiary mortar, or EMP mortar. Shells can also be sold to a trader.
