Every type of furniture has it's own comfort level and each material it's own amount of work to make. One strategy of increasing comfort is  to deconstruct furniture of normal and below quality in order to rebuild into Good or higher quality with a skilled builder.

Comfort is modified by the most recent interaction with Furniture, and clothing, and is dependent on the item's quality. The Comfort attribute which is listed in its information panel. This attribute is modified by the quality of the furniture (e.g. 120% of normal Comfort for a Superior dining chair) and material has no effect on the Comfort need which will replenish as long as they are interacting with the object.
