Alpaca wool is acquired by shearing tamed alpacas - each alpaca can be sheared every Alpaca days for Alpaca wool, for an average of Alpaca per day.

Note that the amount of wool sheared scales with the Animal Gather Yield of the shearer.

Shearing takes 1700, regardless of the amount of wool produced, and only modified by the Animal Gather Speed of the handler.

Usage
Analysis
Alpaca wool can be used to craft and build the following things:
+
Alpaca wool has the second worst protective stats of any textile in the game tied only other wools, and besting cloth only by virtue of proving a significantly more heat armor, though still little in compared to textiles like Devilstrand. Like other wools however, where alpaca wool excels is in cold insulation, offering the 7th best cold insulation of any textile in the game. In comparison, its heat insulation is lacking at tied 10th of all textiles, comparable to many leathers.

Analysis
+
Thus, it is almost entirely irrelevant as protective clothing. Additionally, its average heat insulation make it unattractive in hot biomes, except where bulk textiles of any sort are the primary requirement as many leathers are available with equivalent insulation but significantly better protection. Only its cold insulation provides utility in cold biomes, and in many of them other less insulative but more protective textiles will suffice. However, its ease of production and good insulation can make alpaca wool parkas or skin-layer apparel an easy way to provide winter clothing to a colony, and possibly sufficient to avoid sacrificing any other aspects of their outfit. Compared to other wools, which largely fill the same niche alpaca wool is middle tier or above - the alpaca has the second fastest Per Day production rate while only eating as much as a sheep. Alpaca wool also has the middle cold insulation, better than bison or sheep wool but inferior to muffalo or megasloth wool. It also has the best heat insulation of any wool but this unlikely to be relevant as if heat insulation is required, wools generally should be replaced with more protective and equally insulative leathers.
Along with the other wools, alpaca wool has the second worst protective stats of any textile in the game, only beating cloth by virtue of heat armor. But like other wools, alpaca wool excels against the cold, offering the 4th best cold insulation. In comparison, its heat insulation is around many leathers, at 10th of all textiles. This makes alpaca clothes mostly used for cold insulation. Outside of the extreme cold, it may be wiser to use a less insulative, but more protective clothing.

Where alpaca wool clothing shines is its ease of acquisition; the alpaca has the second fastest Per Day production rate for wool, while only eating as much as a sheep. This means it can be useful for parkas or other pieces of clothing which are situational.
+
For use in furniture, it only has a somewhat improved beauty factor over other common textiles, but its rapid redundancy as clothing, the ease of acquisition, and modest but not insignificant value makes it a solid choice for improving furniture beauty and providing bulk textiles for construction. As alpacas are the second fastest producers while also tied for the lowest hunger rate of all wooly animals, they are ideal for this bulk production. Care should be taken however as, like other wools in RimWorld, it is exceptionally flammable.
