== Acquisition ==
Once the [[Research#Advanced fabrication|Advanced Fabrication]] research project has been completed, you can craft advanced components at a [[fabrication bench]]. Each advanced component requires {{icon|component|1}} [[component]], {{icon|Steel|20}} [[steel]], {{icon|Plasteel|10}} [[plasteel]],  {{icon|Gold|3}} [[gold]], and a crafting skill of 8. Since andvanced components take 2.78 minutes work to make, it is recommended to have two or more fabrication benches with skilled crafters to meet the demand for late game applications.

Advanced components can also be collected by destroying [[crashed ship parts]] or by purchasing them from [[traders]]. Advanced components can only be bought from [[orbital trader]]s, [[outlanders]], and the [[Empire]].{{RoyaltyIcon}} They can also be found in [[ancient shrine]]s.

== Analysis ==
Like with regular [[component]]s, advanced components are often a bottleneck to a colony. It is highly recommended to keep 2 advanced components for when you can build a [[fabrication bench]], which allows you to make both types of component yourself. You may also want to grab one to make a [[ground-penetrating scanner]] or [[long-range mineral scanner]]. Both can scan for ores indefinitely; the metal that they find can be another bottleneck towards development.

Before Advanced Fabrication, the most reliable way to get these is via trade. Outlander [[faction base]]s often have a few advanced components on sale. If you are unable to trade this way, both [[Trade#Exotic goods trader|exotics goods traders]] and [[comms console|orbital trade ships]] are able to sell some. 

In any case, traders rarely pack more than a few at a time, and they become insufficient to meet the high demand for advanced components in the late game. This is exacerbated if you are constructing the [[ship]]. A large amount of time - {{ticks|{{P|Work To Make}}}} of work per component - will be spent creating advanced components. You may want to build multiple fabrication benches, with multiple high-skill crafters, to make enough. In addition, 1 or 2 [[tool cabinet]]s can be used to speed up work speed. 

Note that you will need both [[plasteel]] and [[gold]] to create advanced components, so plan ahead accordingly.
